I’m not sure it’s accurate to say that 30 years ago “only a handful of Wiccans existed.” I knew a zillion of ’em back then, including myself. Admittedly, there were far fewer than now. But what I think probably is true is that back then there weren’t many people who understood or were willing to believe that Wicca was founded in the 1950s.
